Great player, the best union guy in all of sports, a gentleman, a RAIDER! Thank you Gene.

Gene had a remarkable career and will be missed dearly by the Raider family.

He was the only player to participate in 3 SBs in 3 separate decades (SBII/1967 season; SBXI 1976 season; SBXV 1981 season).

15 years with the Raiders and the following accomplishments:

* 7x Pro Bowl Selection
* 11x All Pro Selection
* NFL 75th anniversary All Time Team
* NFL 1970's All Decade Team

Gene Upshaw & Art Shell is the best guard/tackle combo in the history of the NFL, hands down.

It is my hope that the Raiders and the entire NFL honors Gene this season. #63 should adorn the Raiders uniform/helmet this season.

Agreed, Calico. A warrior, gentleman and Raider. There are not many we can say that about.

When you look at the film of Gene playing it is clear that he would be just as dominant a player in today's league too.Definitely a Raider icon and should be honoured in some way all season by the players.
